Pay less, get more. Except for Sam Adams Light, at about $7 a six-pack, the best-tasting beers were all in the mid-price range, about $5 to $6 a pack. Three cheaper beers–Busch Light, Natural Light, and Keystone Light, at less than $4 a pack–were almost as good and are CR Best Buys. The other more expensive imported beers (Heineken Premium Light, Amstel Light, Corona Light, and Beck’s Premier Light) fell to the bottom of the Ratings because of defects, including oxidized and metallic flavors.
Run, however, from a Beck’s Premier Light. Though a beer with just 64 calories per bottle might seem tempting, our experts said there was “little beer flavor in this skunky light beer with cardboard and oxidized notes.
So there you have it folks the cheapest light beers are a best buy, because of price and they taste almost as good as the high priced beers.
Now rush right out and buy all the Keystone light you can find and leave the Killian’s Red for the rest of us.

Reading the blog on Galactic Poolhall I read about how the power brokers in Nevada gamed the system.
He quoted from this article in the NYT:
Mrs. Clinton scored a clear victory measured in the number of people attending the caucuses on her behalf. But Mr. Obama’s campaign was successful by another measure — in the allocation of delegates to the national nominating convention, a result of a complex formula that gave more weight to votes in some parts of the state.
I will close with a quote from the author at the Galactic Poolhall blog:
“Let me guess. Somebody told you that your vote was just as important as everybody else’s. They also told you a big fat white dude was going to carry a big bag of toys down your chimney.
Aren’t you kind of old to keep believing this shit?”
In case you are still certain your vote counts:

The developer of Lake Las Vegas in Henderson is in default on a $560 million loan and has until the end of the year to find buyers for its remaining undeveloped land or the development could face foreclosure, a Lake Las Vegas official said.
A group headed by investment banker Credit Suisse has, for now, waived any default obligations, after Lake Las Vegas, the lake resort community developed by Transcontinental Corp., did not meet its debt obligation on a sales volume quota by Sept. 30, said David Cox, the chief financial officer of Lake Las Vegas.
Nevada’s foreclosure crisis claimed a high-profile victim on Wednesday, as investment bank Deutsche Bank filed a notice of foreclosure on the $3 billion Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino project.
Merrill (MER) reported a fourth-quarter loss of $9.8 billion due to bad bets on subprime mortgage investments, Thain sounded upbeat Thursday about the company’s prospects in a conference call with analysts and in a subsequent interview.
Citigroup announced a steep cut in its stock dividend and another big investment by foreign investors on Tuesday after taking more write-downs related to subprime securities and posting a $9.83 billion loss for the fourth quarter.
Housing starts are at their lowest since 1992.
Citigroup and Merrill are being bailed out by an Arab Sultan, Singapore, China and Dubai. —-Is there anything left that’s not owned by foreign interests?

Is it just me or does he always look like he’s over medicated. —Nobody should smile that much without the help of really good drugs. Or perhaps a bit of good old fashion insanity.
Now he’s saying about Israel: “The Zionist regime… would not dare attack Iran.
Even taking this statement as hyperbole, he’s still talking about a country with it’s back to the sea and nukes in it’s arsenal.
Israel is also testing a long range delivery system for said nukes.
If they ever consider Iran to be an immediate threat, I have no doubt they will attack without hesitation.
Remember Muammar Gaddafi and the line of death?

There are protests in Sardinia because the local Governor allowed Italy do use the island as a dump.
This accommodation was reached because Naples and other southern cities had run out of places to dump their trash.

The problem is many fold.
The Camorra transports huge quantities of waste from northern Europe at cut prices and dumps it illegally around the Naples area. Not only that, but it also sabotages the municipal garbage trucks in order to transport the local rubbish themselves, at a profit.
Southern Italy has been overrun by eastern Europeans looking for work, which leads to overcrowding in an already crowded country.
The government has run out of the vacant lots to rent and store trash on, as they have been doing for years. Now these eco-balls are leaking toxins into the soil and undoubtedly the ground water as well.
Local administrators whose job it is to deal with household and industrial waste are heavily infiltrated by the Camorra.
Legislation passed in Rome providing for the separation and recycling of different types of waste is completely ignored.
The Italian people overwhelmingly voted for a new regime. Now in the time honored tradition of Italian politics, the politicians from the ousted left are turning up with new right wing labels.
There is a word for it in Italian. It is called “trasformismo”, recycling yourself and changing your political label while hanging on to power.
Now if only they could recycle their trash as efficiently as they recycle their politicians.
